Operations Analyst
Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for an analyst to join our London team to assist with data analytics across our business segments. The work will be varied but a large portion will be related to the environmental markets surrounding the European Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and voluntary carbon credit markets. The role requires a numerically strong candidate who enjoys problem-solving and has an interest in financial markets. Experience analysing data and basic Python is required along with being a sociable hardworking individual who is keen to learn. Being a small company, we are looking for someone who will fit into the team and is able to effectively contribute to discussions. Given the global nature of the industry local and international travel is occasionally required.
The role requires running daily and weekly reports, analysing them and maintaining the programs and systems that produce them. You will be monitoring live commodity markets and aiding in their operation. A range of one-off tasks and projects will provide variety to the role. You would also work on research and product development, looking into new products and areas for growth within environmental markets. The role will also involve working alongside the team on more technical and financial projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Programming and maintaining reporting systems
- Responsible for daily and weekly reports and checking their accuracy
- Data analysis
- Product and market research
- Maintaining datasets
- Data verification
- Market operations (trade entry, post-trade processing)
- Attending industry events, as needed
Requirements:
- BSc degree (with a numerical focus) or equivalent work experience
- 1+ years of related work experience is a plus
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic programming experience, specifically Python is required
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Ability to communicate technical ideas confidently
- Strong numerical and computational skills
- Some understanding of financial markets and environmental markets
- Ability to work independently, in a team and take initiative
- Team player
